In a July 31 press release, Mason City Police Chief Jeff Brinkley announced his retirement, effective in November.

“After 30 years in policing and having served as Police Chief at the Mason City Police Department (MCPD) since January 2016, Chief Jeff Brinkley has announced his retirement,” the release states.

In sharing that news, Brinkley reflected, “I would have never guessed I would have had the opportunity to do the things that I have done as a police officer. I have thoroughly enjoyed my policing career and am grateful for the people who placed their trust in me as a police officer, sergeant, lieutenant, and chief for the past three decades.”

A series of police chiefs have overseen the department responsible for investigating the disappearance of Jodi Huisentruit since she was abducted from the parking lot of her apartment complex in June 1995. Chief Brinkley has held the post since taking over for Mike Lashbrook.

Anyone with information about Jodi’s case is encouraged to contact the Mason City Police Department at (641) 421-3636. Information may also be provided to Iowa DCI Special Agent Ryan Herman at rherman@dps.state.ia.us.
