It will be thirty years on June 27 since KIMT-TV news anchor Jodi Huisentruit was abducted on her way to anchor the morning news in Mason City, Iowa.
Former KIMT-TV evening anchor Brian Mastre shared a copy of the two-page script he read to viewers that day, informing them of the concerning news about his colleague who was reported missing. He also noted Jodi had not missed a day of work that year.
In the video, as he reads the script, Brian describes the feelings of anxiety and shock, as if it were yesterday.
Brian is now a news anchor and investigative reporter at WOWT-TV in Omaha, Nebraska. He said in a video posted on Facebook that he hopes reading the June 27, 1995 report might jog someone’s memory and provide the clue police need to help solve the 30-year-old case.
In an earlier interview on FindJodi, Inc.’s podcast, Brian shared reflections on the challenges of working in the KIMT newsroom in the summer of 1995, reporting on a horrific crime involving his young coworker. As he said in that interview, nothing in a college journalism class prepares you for something like what Brian and his colleagues went through, having to report on a missing coworker and friend.
If you have any information about what happened to Jodi, call the Mason City Police Department at (641)421-3636 or email Iowa DCI Special Agent Ryan Herman: rherman@dps.state.ia.us. Or contact us at FindJodi.
