Boy, what a difference a year makes. Last year at this time, our team was energized. We were heading into the anniversary of Jodi's disappearance with an organized walk in Mason City. Many from the community responded, even showed up to walk for that matter. We figured it was a good way to draw attention to Jodi's case because, after all, 20 years is long enough - we wouldn't see 21 years. Well, here we are.

We are approaching the 21st anniversary of the disappearance of Jodi Huisentruit. Jodi was abducted from the parking lot of her apartment complex in the early morning hours of June 27th, 1995. Few details have been released in her case since that day, but according to Mason City Police Department, they continue to investigate leads in an effort to find Jodi and bring her abductor(s) to justice. Here is the latest statement from the department.

An annual golf scholarship fundraiser in honor of Jodi Huisentruit will be held June 10th in her hometown of Long Prairie, Minnesota. The event is sponsored by Jodi's Network of Hope which was founded in 2005, ten years after the young anchorwoman disappeared on her way to work in Mason City, Iowa. She hasn't been seen since that day on June 27, 1995.

In a recent telephone conversation with FindJodi's Caroline Lowe, Mason City Police Chief Jeff Brinkley reflected on what it will take to solve the case and what he thinks that resolution would mean to the Mason City community. Brinkley took over as chief in January 2016 after 20 years with the Ames, Iowa, Police Department. He's the fourth Mason City Police Chief since Jodi disappeared on her way to work at KIMT TV on June 27, 1995. A lot of people want to know what happened to Jodi Huisentruit, including Abby Kleinschmidt of Alexandria. Kleinschmidt grew up across the street from Jodi’s sister in Sauk Centre and was friends with Jodi’s nieces. Kleinschmidt was one of about 50 people who took part in “Finishing Jodi’s Journey,” a walk to remember the missing TV news anchor held Saturday, June 27 in Mason City, Iowa.
