Tammy Baker was one of Jodi Huisentruit’s closest Iowa friends.
The two young women met in Iowa City in 1992, three years before Jodi was abducted on June 27, 1995 on her way to anchor the KIMT-TV morning news in Mason City.
When they became friends, Jodi was just beginning her television journalism career at the KGAN-TV’s Iowa City bureau. Tammy was a radio reporter in the same city.
They stayed in touch even after Jodi had moved on to two other television stations in Iowa and Minnesota.
Tammy last saw Jodi just two days before she disappeared. They shared a room while on a weekend water skiing trip to Iowa City with several friends, including John Vansice and Ani Kruse.
Tammy and Jodi were also together the previous weekend, June 17-18th, staying at Jodi’s apartment in Mason City. They spent part of their time boating and dancing in Clear Lake.
Tammy shares her memories of her dear friend Jodi in our latest podcast episode.
