Jodi Huisentruit and Jacob Wetterling: Two Families Wait for Answers

By Caroline Lowe · On February 18, 2013

Jacob Wetterling

Jacob Wetterling, 11-years-old.

Jacob Wetterling’s family just marked his 35th birthday on February 17th, another birthday not knowing what happened to him.

Jacob was  11-years-old when a masked gunman abducted him near the Wetterling’s home in St. Joseph, MN in October of 1989.

Jodi Huisentruit covered Jacob’s abduction while she was a young reporter, working at KSAX -TV, in Alexandria, MN, in the early 1990’s.

She interviewed Jacob’s parents, Patty and Jerry Wetterling. Jodi even drove her mother around St. Joseph to show her the rural community where Jacob lived with his family.

It was also close to St. Cloud State University where Jodi had studied journalism.

Missing Anchorwoman

Jodi Huisentruit, 27-years-old.

Jodi soon moved to Mason City, Iowa to work as an anchor at KIMT-TV. That’s the town where Jacob’s father grew up and Jacob’s late grandparents lived for many years.

Two years later, in June of 1995, Jodi was abducted in Mason City on her way to work at KIMT-TV.

More than seventeen years later, the Huisentruit and Wetterling families share the heartache of not knowing what happened to their children.

FindJodi.com is dedicated to finding answers to not only what happened to Jodi and Jacob, but to other missing people all across the country.

Thank you for your support of our website and our mission in helping families try and find closure for their loved ones.
