Retired Minneapolis Sergeant Holly Keegel joins FindJodi, Inc.

By Caroline Lowe · On December 26, 2024

We are excited to announce that Holly Keegel has joined FindJodi, Inc. as the newest member of our team.

Holly comes to us with a strong investigative background, having served as a member of the Minneapolis Police Department for over 31 years, retiring as a sergeant in 2019. During her distinguished career, she has held various roles, including patrol officer, investigator and supervisor of multiple specialty units within Minnesota’s largest local law enforcement agency.

Holly was born and raised in Minneapolis which she still calls home.

A passionate advocate for missing persons cases, Holly has devoted much of her time since retirement to volunteering along with her sister Heidi on these investigations. As a lifelong Minnesotan, Holly also closely followed the unsolved abduction of Long Prairie, Minnesota, native Jodi Huisentruit and has informally provided invaluable insights into Jodi’s case.

“Jodi, her family and her friends deserve the homecoming they have tirelessly wished for. I will do everything I can to help the FindJodi team make that happen,” Holly stated.

Holly’s extensive experience at the MPD included spending her last eight years on the force as the supervisor of the Violent Criminal Apprehension Team (VCAT). In that role, she led efforts statewide to apprehend individuals wanted for the most serious crimes, including murder, sexual assault and robbery. Holly says that was her favorite assignment at the MPD.

Among her many accomplishments, Holly personally arrested an Isanti businessman and hockey dad linked by familial DNA to a decades-old Minneapolis murder case.

She has also worked on several other high-profile cases.

Holly is also passionate about women’s personal safety and has coauthored two books on the topic and participated in workshops, as well. Her interest hits close to home as a mother of a daughter in her twenties.

Holly fills the position on FindJodi, Inc. previously held by Jay Alberio, a retired Woodbury, Minnesota, police commander who served with our team for eleven years, until his passing on November 7th, due to cancer. Jay’s invaluable law enforcement perspective, and positive personality, greatly enriched our nonprofit team, which primarily consists of journalists who volunteer their time to help find Jodi.

As we prepare to mark the 30th anniversary of Jodi’s abduction on June 27, we look forward to the fresh insights and expertise that Holly will bring to our efforts.

Welcome aboard, Holly!

Anyone with any information on Jodi’s case should contact the Mason City Police Department at (641) 421-3636 or email Iowa DCI Special Agent Ryan Herman at rherman@dps.state.ia.us. You can always reach out to FindJodi here, or anonymously here.
