Missing Iowa television news anchor Jodi Huisentruit would have turned 53 today.
Instead, this day marks another birthday without answers.
Jodi disappeared on June 27, 1995, weeks after celebrating her 27th birthday with friends in Mason City, Iowa. She planned to go back home to Long Prairie, Minnesota the following weekend to celebrate the wedding of a childhood friend.
Jodi never made it to the wedding. Instead, she was taken away from her friends, her family, and her future in the pre-dawn darkness on her way to anchor the morning news at KIMT-TV.
On Jodi’s birthday last year, we launched the FindJodi Podcast.
On Jodi’s 50th birthday in 2018, we put up our first billboard in Mason City.
The billboards and the podcast are part of our ongoing efforts to help find answers to what happened to Jodi, keep her memory alive, and keep her unsolved case from being forgotten. Those were the goals when Josh Benson and Gary Peterson founded FindJodi in 2003.
On what should have been a day celebrating Jodi’s 53rd birthday, the thoughts of the FindJodi team are with all of those who knew Jodi in life, and especially her family.
