A billboard our FindJodi.com team dedicated in Mason City, Iowa in honor of Jodi Huisentruit has been vandalized.
The board was spray painted with the name of a former Mason City police investigator, sometime in the past couple of days. We have blurred the name since we have no facts behind the claim.
It also includes the words ‘machine shed’ in the writings.
Our team has contacted Mason City Police Department, the Federal Bureau of Investigations, the Iowa Department of Criminal Investigations and Reagan Outdoor Advertising (formerly Fairway) about the incident.
We received word back from Mason City Police Chief Jeff Brinkley:
“At this point, the only comment I have is that anyone with information about the vandalism should call MCPD at 641-421-3636,” he says. “This kind of activity is not helpful to the investigation into Jodi’s disappearance.”
Reagan Outdoor Advertising said the billboard will be coming down tomorrow (Friday, June 3rd). They told us since the billboard is not being paid for they can not fix the damage and it must come down.
We also reached out to Jodi’s sister JoAnn Nathe with the news.
“It’s just so sad, we don’t know why anyone would want to do this,” she says. “We wanted that billboard to stay there.”
The gracious folks at Reagan have left this billboard up for 17 months at no charge. But sadly, the billboard will be coming down Friday.
This was one of four billboards our FindJodi.com team put up to honor Jodi and help generate leads in her case.
We dedicated it on Jodi’s 50th birthday on June 5, 2018.
It will be 25 years on June 27th since Jodi was abducted on her way to anchor the morning news at KIMT-TV in Mason City.
Obviously we don’t condone vandalism. If you have a lead that you’d like us to look into, please feel free to contact us. You can do so anonymously.
Also, you have options to take your information directly to authorities.
