There really should be a statute of limitations on what constitutes an ACTIVE investigation, and we should be able to read the police files for information. After all, they are making no headway, at this point in time, we are more interested than they are.

I have to agree with you. They shouldn't classify a cold case that they aren't pursuing as 'active'. MCPD said flat out they are as close to solving it now than they were at day 1. And I agree, they should start sharing some of the evidence. There sure was a stink and a helluva investigation when the diary entries were mailed to the media. Why try covering it up any more? Share the evidence. A good example is the DB cooper case - the FBI agent posted youtube videos showing the gathered evidence they do have. Whynot do the same?
