The last time Jodi celebrated her birthday was back in 1995 when she turned 27, just two weeks before her still-unsolved abduction in Mason City, Iowa. Declared legally dead in 2001, Jodi would have been 50 years old this June 5.
Jodi’s milestone birthday will be marked with events both in Mason City and in her hometown of Long Prairie, Minnesota.
Our FindJodi team on June 5th will focus on the continuing investigation into Jodi’s disappearance, while her closest friends will hold a golf tournament three days later to celebrate her life and raise safety awareness.
4 billboards around Mason City
Our FindJodi team will mark Jodi’s 50th birthday along with the anniversary of her disappearance with four billboards in Mason City, featuring a different picture of Jodi provided by her family, along with a simple message: “Somebody knows something…is it YOU?”
We will gather at the site of one of the billboards to remember Jodi and appeal for help (details to the public event below). The billboards will remain up for the month of June.
Jodi was abducted on June 27, 1995, from her apartment parking lot in Mason City. She was on her way to anchor the morning news at KIMT TV.
Our FindJodi team hopes these billboards will prompt someone to finally come forward with information to solve the mystery of what happened to Jodi. We don’t want Jodi’s family and friends to mark another birthday not knowing her fate.
Jodi’s family has given FindJodi.com, Inc. blessing to promote Jodi’s case with the billboards. A statement from the family will be read at the event.
FindJodi.com’s co-founder Josh Benson had this to say about using billboards to attract attention this anniversary:
“Here we are for another anniversary of Jodi’s disappearance. Someone knows what happened. And we have to continue to find ways to reach people. We’ve never tried billboards before – and felt this is a good way to saturate Mason City with our message and reach out to those who may know something,” he says.
“A special thanks to Fairway Outdoor Advertising for helping make the billboards a reality and doing such a professional job. They went above and beyond in helping us plan our event and get the billboards up.”
