I just went to set up my DVR to record 48 hours on December 15. I was disappointed to see that a completely different episode--that is not about the search for Jodi--is listed. Any ideas on this?

Hi. Thanks for the question. The special will air at 10:00 p.m. Eastern despite what your DVR is saying. There are TWO episodes of 48 Hours that night. Plan on 10:00 p.m. Eastern. That is what the producers have told me. Thanks.

Thank you for the information. Unfortunately, now 48 Hours has been entirely removed from the schedule for KENS channel 5 (San Antonio) on Dec 15. It has been replaced by basketball.

I watched the 48 Hours show tonight. Didn't learn much new. I did notice one thing though - a bit trivial - but here it is. I noticed in watching the footage of Vansice made within a few days of Jodi's disappearance, that he had a blackened/bruised finger or thumb nail. Maybe nothing, but could it be that the blackened nail was injured in a struggle with Jodi a few days prior when she was taken....? It appeared at 9:19pm on tape, so 19 minutes into the program. Vansice is at the lake being interviewed, his right hand visible behind his head as he says 'I hope she'll come back soon...' Middle finger on right hand, blackened at the base of nail. For what it is worth, his thumbnail looked messed up too, but maybe that is just the way his thumbnail is....
I think Vansice is most likely the perp. He was in her life, seemingly obsessed, and his demeanor is too odd. Wouldn't doubt if he hurt hand struggling with her. Wonder if cops ever noted it...

If anyone else was unable to view the 48 Hours show about Jodi, 48 Hours also has a podcast. They just posted the audio of the episode on the podcast. I am listening to it now.

You can watch it on Charter On Demand. Go to Primetime, then CBS, then 48 hours and scroll down. I worked at the Albert Lea Tribune when Jodi disappeared. We had to print a big overrun the next day and had people lined up at the door to get a copy. I hope that someday this gets solved and thanks to the Team for their work.

You can also watch the entire video at the cbsnews website at: https://www.cbsnews.com/news/find-jodi-huisentruit-decades-long-search-for-the-missing-mason-city-iowa-tv-news-anchor/
They usually keep 48 hours videos for a few weeks... sometimes longer.

Consider the fact that, in the video of Jodi's home following her disappearance, the VCR time is blinking at 12:00 - which means that it had recently lost power and been reset. Vanisce had said that he spent the night watching a surprise birthday video with her, which they laughed over repeatedly all night.
Why was the VCR powered off and then back on again, instead of just stopped?
And what happened to this video he spoke of - this vcr tape. Was it recovered as a means of verifying his story?
